Those who suffer from urinary incontinence are unable to control the elimination of their urine. This can be an embarrassing problem for most people because you may lose small amounts of urine when you do not intend to. Some people have no ability to control their urine flow, and they find that they may have much larger accidents. The problem is most common in older individuals, but it can affect people at any age. While women seem to be afflicted with the problem more often than men are, it affects both sexes.

There are several different types of urinary incontinence. Stress incontinence, which is common in women, happens when there is pressure on the bladder. Involuntary bodily reactions such as sneezing and coughing can cause urine leakage. Even lifting objects, exercising and laughing can cause it. While this condition is more common with women, men who have prostate problems can also suffer.
